FIFA International

Match Standard

Sports Labs are fully FIFA Accredited for testing footballs, futsal balls and beach soccer balls to the International Match Standard (IMS). With years of experience in testing to the IMS standard, we are able to offer industry-leading turnaround times on results and reports that are typically submitted to FIFA for review within ten working days from the receipt of samples.

Should you be interested in assessing specific characteristics of your ball models ahead of full certification, such as durability or ball rebound on a new construction type or design, we are happy to tailor a testing package to suit your specific needs. If you’re new to the process, we can lead you through the certification, keeping you updated on testing results as your samples progress through a suite of performance testing.

FIFA Basketballs

In 2019, FIBA engaged with Sports Labs and other test institutes to help develop the Approval Programme for Basketball Equipment which was was successfully launched in September 2019. The new FIBA Handbook of Test Methods and Requirements details the requirements for various equipment categories including those for both Level 1 and Level 2 FIBA Approved Basketballs.

Selected as the lead laboratory in this category, Sports Labs have an unparalleled understanding of the test methods and requirements as well as testing experience.

If you are interested in receiving more information on the approval process or have models which have been previously approved to the old requirements, we can help you with the next steps.

Other Sports Balls

With an experienced in-house team of engineers, we’re able to both utilise methods from existing test specifications as well as develop new equipment techniques to assess all kinds of performance and quality characteristics from durability and dimensional variations to chemical safety and UV stability.
