At Sports Labs, we carry out all necessary tests to protect players. Sufficient grip is needed, but too much risks injury.
AGRONOMY SERVICES
Our in-house agronomy services make it possible for us to analyze samples, carry out bridging calculations, diagnose failures and find the best solutions.
ARTIFICIAL TURF
Artificial turf is regulated by governing body specifications, typically more than other sport surfaces. We're ready to test, certify and provide guidance wherever you need us.
ATHLETIC TRACK
Tracks are built with a scientific mix of components, which can be complex, but we understand the key variables.
CERTIFICATION BY SPORT
Safety and performance are categorized by global and national governing bodies for sports surfaces. It is crucial to understand what each sport requires.
COURT PACE RATINGS
It’s important to define end-user needs or court type in a tender to ensure a product complies. We test samples in the laboratory to official ITF classification or for development purposes.
DIFFERENTIAL SCANNING CALORIMETER
Our tests are related to sports construction material using a thermoanalytical technique.
FLAMMABILITY
The most important safety test is the flammability. Tender specifications can alter the category required depending on many things such as indoor or outdoor and the surrounding infrastructure.
FORENSIC INVESTIGATIONS
Sports surface products and base components can be complex which is why, when problems arrive, it is important to ask an expert to investigate.
HEAD INJURY CRITERION (HIC)
Test methods such as Head Injury Criterion (HIC) allow us to assess the likelihood of a serious injury from player surface interaction.
INDOOR FLOORS
From area elastic and mixed elastic to combined elastic and point elastic, we have the equipment, experience and facilities to work with you.
LANDSCAPE TURF
Landscape turf varies significantly which means there are many tests we run to identify durability, safety and compliance, if applicable.
MATERIAL IDENTIFICATION
Identifying a component clearly for polymer trace, density, shape, size and colour allows it to be analyzed to ensure overall performance.
PRODUCT QUALITY CONTROL
Sports Labs provides clients with custom and tailored programs for items to be independently analyzed which can be a part of a governing body quality programme.
SLIP RESISTANCE
The slip resistance test ensures the surface meets safety requirements which falls within minimum and maximum tolerances to reduce or prevent injuries.
THERMOGRAVIMETRIC ANALYSIS
Identifying polymerics organic, inorganic and elastomer material is a key set of tests most conducted for sports surfaces using the Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA).
TOXICOLOGY
Toxicology tests consider the health of end-users of sports products and any potential environmental impact.
UV TESTING
A product’s ability to withstand ultraviolet light can be defined in laboratory tests under a controlled environment. We use a chamber with a cyclic function of moisture and UV which enables us to categorise wear in an accelerated fashion.
WATER INFILTRATION
The water infiltration test can be conducted in a controlled laboratory environment to ensure a product design is sufficient for the climatic conditions of installation location.
WEAR SIMULATION - ACCELERATED
Before a product’s launch, purchase or installation, we test products to see how they perform under stress and high usage.
